The New York State Senate paid tribute to Trooper Donald H. Baker Jr., who continues to recover after being shot on Aug. 31 during an intense search for convicted Trooper-killer Ralph Phillips, by passing a resolution in his honor on Feb. 5.
The Senate also passed a resolution designating Feb. 9 as “Blue Friday” in honor of law enforcement officers.
Last year, the Senate passed a resolution in honor of Trooper Joseph Longobardo, who was shot at the same time as Trooper Baker. Trooper Longobardo died from his injuries on Sept. 3, 2006.
The State Troopers PBA appreciates the support of the New York State Senate, and encourages all members of the public to support all law enforcement officers, who risk their lives every day in the name of public safety.
We are happy to see Trooper Baker continue his recovery, and we wish him the best as his health improves every day. We also continue to mourn the loss of Trooper Longobardo, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and coworkers.
