The State Troopers PBA is grieving the loss of two of our members. Trooper Michael Strenk died unexpectedly while off-duty on Dec. 29, and Zone Sergeant Warner Hein Jr. also died unexpectedly while off-duty on Dec. 31.
Trooper Strenk was assigned to SP Princetown in Troop G and had served with the New York State Police for 13 years. He was a member of the State Police Mobile Response Team. He had also served on active duty in the military, as a Navy SEAL. Trooper Strenk was 46. He is survived by his wife and two teen-age sons.
Zone Sergeant Hein was stationed at SP Monroe in Troop F and had been a member of the New York State Police for 20 years. He was 44. He is survived by his wife and 4-year-old son.

The funeral arrangements for Trooper Strenk are as follows: Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 3 from 3 to 6 pm. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 4 at 11 a.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, and will follow with a procession to the Gerald B.H. Solomon Cemetery in Schuylerville. In addition, discount hotel rooms are available at the Holiday Inn, 100 Nott Terrace, Schenectady at a rate of $93 per night for both Thursday and Friday nights. The funeral arrangements for Zone Sergeant Hein are as follows: Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 6 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Copeland Funeral Home at 162 South Putt Corners Road in New Paltz. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 7 at 10 a.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, 104 Wurts Street in Kingston. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Gardiner.
