Two New York State Troopers were shot last night in Chautauqua County, and the likely suspect in the shootings is Ralph Phillips, who is also accused of shooting another Trooper in June during a traffic stop.
Troopers Joseph Longobardo, 32, and Donald Baker Jr., 38, are based in Troop G but were sent to western New York as members of the State Police Mobile Response Team in the search for fugitive Ralph Phillips.
Phillips escaped from the Erie County Jail in April, and he is the prime suspect in the June shooting of Trooper Sean Brown during a traffic stop. Trooper Brown was shot in the abdomen, but recovered and has recently returned to work. Phillips has been on the run since that time.
There is a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Phillips.
The State Troopers PBA is hoping and praying for the well-being and recovery of Troopers Longobardo and Baker.
An article in the New York Times contains updates on both Troopers.
