Thousands paid tribute last week to New York State Trooper John J. McKenna IV, who was killed on Aug. 16 by enemy fire in Iraq while serving as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. A wake and funeral mass for Trooper McKenna were held in Brooklyn, and the burial took place at Saratoga National Cemetery. In a fitting tribute, services were attended by hundreds of New York State Troopers, as well as Troopers from surrounding states, and municipal police and fire departments including the New York City Police and Fire Departments. Photos 1, 2 & 3 show the many different police and fire agencies that stood in formation during the funeral in Brooklyn. The procession from New York City to Saratoga was aided by numerous police agencies along the way, who blocked entrance ramps and other roadways as the procession passed by. In Photo 4, only the procession is seen on the westbound side of the TappanZee Bridge.
