The PBA is saddened by the news that one of our own members, New York State Trooper John J. McKenna IV, was killed Wednesday while serving with the U.S. military in Iraq as a Captain with the U.S. Marines. A member of the 2nd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Division, Fox Company, McKenna was shot and killed by a sniper just outside the city of Fallujah.
Trooper McKenna had been stationed at Troop F in Kingston and had been a member of the New York State Police since February 2005. McKenna, 30, is survived by his parents and his sister.
The State Troopers PBA is proud of Trooper McKenna’s service as both a New York State Trooper and as a Marine. He dedicated his life to serving and protecting the public, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
The PBA sends our thoughts and prayers to the family and fellow Troopers of Trooper McKenna.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be posted here when they are finalized.
