Negotiations Update

During negotiations for a successor agreement for the Supervisors Unit (negotiations are currently at impasse and scheduled for mediation), New York State and the NYSTPBA have agreed to a pilot program which institutes a 10-hour work schedule for Commissioned Officers. This pilot program will create a 10-hour schedule for officers in Troops D and F. Troop Commanders, BCI Captains, Administrative Captains, OEM and VGNET officers are exempted from this pilot. The pilot would run for 6 months, at which time it can be extended, modified, or cancelled. We hope and believe that this pilot will provide a superior schedule for NYSP officers and look forward to its implementation.  To view the MOU, click here.

With respect to mediation for both the Troopers Unit and the Supervisors Unit, we have a mediation scheduled for July 24th and a second date scheduled for August 13th (if necessary). We are determined to negotiate a contract that fairly compensates you for the essential, difficult, and dangerous work that is performed. I will keep you informed as to our progress through this process.

Fraternally,

Charles W. Murphy
