Last week, PBA President Tom Mungeer testified during the public safety portion of the Joint Legislative Budget Hearings in Albany. Mungeer highlighted the need for additional manpower and funds to replace high-mileage patrol cars. He also thanked legislators for previous funding that was secured to purchase ballistic panels in patrol cars and explained that was one of the factors that helped a Trooper in Troop C return to his family on Monday night following a shootout with a suspect wielding a semi-automatic rifle.
A reporter from the CNHI news service wrote about the incident in Troop C and Mungeer’s budget testimony, which can be found here: https://www.thedailystar.com/news/local_news/albany-notebook-shootout-shows-dangers-police-face-on-job/article_f032d29c-11ed-5c51-b0ac-f19dd4358c89.html
